Default 2011 Polaris sportsman 500 HO rear axle replacement

trying to figure out I got the new axle finally and my old one almost out got it all apart BUT here is where I am at. on the top (where it slides into the rear end) is the ball barring carrier in there well that snapped and was in 4-5 pieces the dealer told me to pull on the drive shaft and it'll pop right off well with the carrier all busted up when I did that it ripped the boot and there is nothing there now to grab onto to pull. I cant get anything behind it and the rear end is aluminum so don't really want to pry on it can you give me any suggestions for this?

I had plenty of these do this. You can use penetrating oil such as PB blaster and a little heat from a propane torch and pry bars if you're careful or rent a slide hammer if there's enough to grab a hold of.Some have even welded hooks inside the bearing cup for the slide hammers to grab. Worst case, you can pull the other drive shaft and knock the bad one out.

I seen a youtube video of taking a piece of fuel line putting a hose clamp on it then putting the puller on it for the slide hammer and using another hose clamp to hold it on but it can only handle 2-3 good hits and it pops off again. I also tried to weld a piece of metal with a hole in it that the slide hammer can mount to and again it only takes about 2-3 good hits and welds separate (only using a 110 wire feed welder so think its not getting hot enough for the axle to get a good weld on it)

Then it might be extra work, but pulling the other drive shaft and then you have a clear shot to knock the bad one out.. Sometimes it's actually quicker this way than fighting to get the bad one out.

Well sounds like you're down to PB Blaster, some heat and pry bars if you can't get a slide hammer to work. Even a good impact with a long bit might help if you have one. If you're able to get one side out,the other side would be a snap..
