Default Tire size swap on 01 sportsman

Hello mud guys, I have a 2001 Polaris 500 Sportsman and it has 25x11-10 tires on the rear and the front tires are 25x8-12. I want to swap the rear rims on the rear for 12” and put 26-11R12 on the rear and 26-9R12 on the front. Will this swap work?

I hope so.

I did it no problem on my much smaller chassis 350 4x4 with plenty for room to spare, and Zilla's have tall 1.19" mud lugs to boot.

Hope so also, got takeoff rims from a 2008 sportsman from ebay, and changed the rear to the 12 inch wheels. Running 25.5 Pit Bulls

Thanks guys for your input..I just had a concern with the front tires rubbing the outer tie rods. I ordered one front tire to check fit and two 12 inch rims for the rear. I will post the outcome.

Your only going a extra 1/2" width towards the "inside" with each 1" width increase. The other 1/2" is on the "outside" .

The front of a Sportsman have plenty of space to spare before rubbing.

Hello again mud guys, Update on the tire and wheel change. On my 2001 Polaris 500 Sportsman it had 25x11-10 tires on the rear and the front tires were 25x8-12. I swapped the rear rims on the rear for 12” stock and put Sedona Rip Saw 26-11R12 on the rear and 26-9R12 on the front. The Sedona tires are much heavier but they fit and look great.

Those are a nice size and radials.
What were your old Tires, Goodyear P-Trackers?

I don,t think a 500H.O cares about heavier tires.

Hello,

They were ITP Mud Lite, not much selection out there for a 10 inch wheel.
