Default Looking at 05 sportsman 700 to buy

I am looking at a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 Twin to buy. It has 175 hours and 965 miles. Is there any problems I should be aware of and to look at? This is from the original owner so he should be able to answer any questions, thanks

If it's the carb model there was a recall on ecm modules. Some have had multiple replacements. Huge ATV Recall by Polaris - Sportsman and Scrambler
If it's an efi machine the main problem on some were the sensor connectors and thin wiring harness. Look at the "sticky" section above about 700/800 harness problems. Other than that they were usually good machines.

Being that it is a 2005 with 900 miles don't you think that if it had a recall issue that would have been a problem that would have been worked out by now? I will ask to see if problem has come up..thanks

Only the carb models had the ecm problem. You don't say what machine it is you're looking at,efi or carb? If it is a carb model then yes the ecm should have been replaced during the recall period, all owners were notified,BUT many still had problems on the replacement ecms also. If it's an efi machine many had sensor harness problems. But in spite of these common problems both the carb and efi models were generally good machines beyond these complaints.
