Redcat reverse gear not engaging
#1
Hey guys, I ended up buying the Redcat I was repairing for my neighbor. Now that its mine I'm going to address the rest of the issues. For starters, the quad will not reverse. The cable when engaged moves the gearbox lever but simply puts the quad in Neutral. Any ideas why? Here are pics of the Redcat, the VIN, gearbox, and the engine model if it helps.

I believe it's the VX-200, it has the reverse lever which does move the arm on the gearbox

Sounds good. On my Baja theres is an adjustment on the linkage to get it to go into each gear (forward, neutral and reverse). If it goes into neutral and forward just fine, then the issue sounds like it's in the gearbox itself. You'll find that if the gears or forks are bad, you may not be able to get the parts. I would first see if they are readily available before tearing into it. You got forward and neutral and that's a plus. Reverse is more of a convenience.

I know i'm 5 years after the conversation, but I'm curious about what the outcome of the axle was? I currently have a 150 quad (identical) my gears all engage, forward and back. my tires will spin but will stop spinning as if not in gear. fluid level is full and chain is tight. any suggestions would be helpful.

Mpx 110 2006 redcat wouldn't start. Brought a brand new battery and it worked just fine all day. Later my son tried to ride and it wouldn't turn over. It will make the noise like it wants to cut on but wont.. Please help
