Default 2003 Kawasaki Bayou 220 stuck in reverse?

Just bought this and the seller drove it around the parking lot for me. worked great. I got home and after unloading it the Neutral light was on and was able to crank it. not knowing much about ATV's, I went into reverse without using the revers "****". so it died. put in neutral and cranked back up. then reverse and died. after doing this three times, the neutral light would not come on and when i push on the ATV it only rolls in reverse. So i am assuming its just stuck in reverse.
Any help on what i need to look for would be appreciated.

The reverse **** is supposed to stop you from getting into reverse unless you twist it first, so you shouldn't have been able to get reverse without it. Once in reverse you just set off as normal so it shouldn't die. Nor should there be any problem getting it out of reverse if you rock the bike while doing so. That goes for any gear if the engine is stopped. Kawasakis have a habit of going through neutral and straight from reverse into first, I bet that is what you have done, but a prod back down and you should get neutral again. However, if that neutral **** isn't working, you could go straight back into reverse again. Fix the reverse ****, fix the reverse warning light, the stalling in reverse could be more problematic, don't suppose you have tried going forwards yet, you may need choke until the bike warms up.

OK so i'm a newb to ATV's. Utlimately I had it in fifth gear somehow lol. I could pull up and get one gear but no more and only went down once. Once I went all the way down i got neutral. lol. oh well thank you.

Kawasakis are the only bike I know that do the straight from reverse to 1st trick. You soon get used to it, but finding neutral again is a lot easier with the reverse lock-out **** working properly.
