New sportsman500

I have been reading many of the posts, those for and against the Polaris machines. Last Saturday I just bought my third machine. '00 Sp500. My other two machines (both Trail Boss's) have been great machines. The first was bought in 1996 at a dealer that sold Honda and Polaris. The second was from a dealer that sold Polaris and John Deere Tractors. My Sp500 is from a dealer that sells only Polaris. I wished that I had bought my other machines from Tri-City. They walked me though the process they follow on every new machine. They tear down and rebuild the clutch and carb. They check and verify all components, plus offer a recheck after 10-20 hours of operation. Their main emphasis is for the repeat business. Not only do they sell and repair Polaris, but they also race them to. They firmly believe in the product they sell.
I probably saved $150 each by buying the other machines at the other dealers, but after reading all I did about the Sp500, I decided that a committed dealer may be the ticket to a great machine.
Tri-City gave me a tour of their facilities and as I test drove around the place, I noticed that the only machine being fixed was one that had rolled. A couple of others were having maintenance checks.
I suppose that I am just writing this to confirm what others have posted. Buy your machines at a reputable dealer. Even if it costs a little more. I also believe that if you want a machine to last whether it be a lawn mover truck or an atv, one must take all the steps to maintain them. If you don't plan on doing maintenance, then maybe you shouldn't buy the equipment.
Well thants enough hot air, I promised my kids a ride. See ya!!
