Default 1994 300 Bayou Clutch slipping

I recently acquired a 300 Bayou that has clutch slipping issues. I pulled the clutch release adjustment cover off and the locking nut was broke off. My question is if I replace the adjusting pin would that make any changes on the slipping clutch? I want to make sure that I replace everything that I need to the first time I open it up so I don't need to buy more gaskets and oil.
The slippage that is occurring is that the machine barely wants to go unless the RPM's are really high.

Check that the centrifugal clutch shoes are not worn down to the metal.

Some would advise fitting a new clutch kit to the secondary clutch. I tend to go for checking the plate thickness and spring length with a vernier gauge and, if OK, just rough the surfaces with emery cloth before re-assembly. I haven't got the manual for the 300 though, so can't say what they should be.

Thanks for the response,
Should the primary clutch housing have grooves worn into it from the shoes? Mine is extremely smooth, no grooves showing. All of the other used housings that I have seen have grooves worn into them.

Yes they do get grooves worn in them, but new drums are smooth so it looks like you have a newish drum.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but is the nut on the centrifugal clutch a right or left hand thread? How do you keep it from turning when you tighten it to the required 94 ft-lbs?
