Default 125cc Tao Tao needs more low end

Any idea on what sprocket setup i can go with to increase low end Torq?

I would take them off and measure them. Search Ebay and reduce the front by 2 and add 2 two to the rear. Then your chain still fits and it will be geared down a noticeable amount. They are fairly cheap. You just want to confirm chain size, bolt pattern and many of the front ones will have inside/outside splines. I got a front one for my Granddaughter's Panther 110 for under $10.00.

You can also do the math...an example of the suggestion above...let's say the stock gears are 47(rear)/15(front)...that would yield a 3.133/1 ratio...if you do as suggested above you'd have 49/13 or 3.7692/1 ratio...the ratio being that for every 1 turn of the rear sprocket (wheel) requires 3.769 turns of the front sprocket...this will indeed increase your low end but will limit top-end speed...


The above is a 19% gear reduction and may be too aggressive, but that's a personal decision...

The little 110 Panther was more like a mid 30 something rear, maybe 35 or 36. I think a 15t front. It would do 20 mph or so with the throttle limit screw ran nearly all the way in before I changed the front sprocket. Count your teeth. They are cheap enough if you search to buy extras to try. Heck, even the chains are fairly cheap. I had plans for more work before my youngest daughter remarried and the little 110 left our house.

I ended up going 12t in the front and a performance Cdi. Very noticeable difference
