Sprockets

Sprockets... Reminds me of Mike Myers and Sat.Nite.Live...hehe Anyways. The stock teeth on a 400EX is 15/38. I always forget this so after i get a post i am printing this and stamping it to my forehead... Which way do you go on each sprocket for a higher top-end/higher botton-end and visa-versa...

Larger front sprocket=more top end and smaller rear sprocket=more top end. Therefore, smaller front sprocket and larger rear sprocket=more bottom end power. Keep in mind that the increase in top end is at the expense of a decrease in low end power and vice versa.

16 TOOTH FOR DRAG RACING BUT YOU GOT TO REMOVE THE CASE GUARD AND HOPE YOU DONT LOOSE A CHAIN AND THE STOCK 15 FOR TRAIL RIDING.I LEAVE THE REAR ALONE ITS TO MUCH TO CHANGE AND NO CLEARANCE WITH A LARGER ONE DUE TO AC SKID PLATE.

I found the stock sprockets to be too high for my use, so I dropped one tooth on the counter shaft sprocket to a 14 tooth sprocket, which works ideal 99% of the time. We have an OHV park with a real tight 2 mile trail, for that I add a 39 tooth rear sprocket and can stay in 2nd gear throughout the trail and loose anyone following me at the same time.
