Has anyone put a larger oil cooler on their Wolverine?
If so, was it an aftermarket cooler, or scavenged from another bike?
I'd really like to increase the cooling capacity on my Wolverine, and would like to hear about your expirences with this.

Also, I know that for some two-strokes, such as the Blaster, you can buy liquid cooling kits. Does anyone know if something like this is available for the Wolverine or Warrior.

Howdy,

I have heard you can bolt in an oil cooler from a mid 90's Kodiak,it is a bit bigger, you just need to bend the mounting bracket a little, that way, your stock oil lines bolt right up, and you have the increased cooling ability.

Just about a year ago, my oil cooler on my '96 Wolverine got wrecked. I almost died when I called the dealer and found out a new one would cost me over $400 Canadian!!! I went to the local junk yard and started looking around for something that would fit. I got the transmision cooler off a Ford Probe for 20 bucks. It didn't take too much modification to mount it on my bike, almost exactly where the old one sat. I had to make a couple mounting brackets out of sheet metal, and I cut the screw-on couplings off the ends of the 2 oil lines, and the hoses just slipped onto the new cooler. I used a couple hose clamps to secure them, and the cooler is now better than new. The Probe tranny cooler is a little longer, and over twice as thick as the stock cooler. I'd say it has at least twice the capacity. Plus it has less chance of getting damaged than the stock cooler, because it's got flexable hoses going directly to the cooler instead of the steel hose ends that were on the old set up. To look at the bike, you would never know it wasn't stock, unless someone points it out to you. I can't really say how much better my cooling is now, because I don't have an oil temp guage, but I don't see how it can possibly not run cooler.
