i have complaints about my '97 TB is the plastic. After you get it coated with mud you really have to scrub to get it off! And how when the chain flys off it smacks the motor and can possibly put a nice hole in it!

This isn't just about TBs. Any Polaris will do.

The reason i ask is i want to get another one next summer.

 

Keep your chain tensioned right (by the book), and buy a chain tensioner. Most aggrssive Polaris riders with non-concentric drive machines have chain tensioners, and it is a very smart thing to have.

I didn't have the bolts tightened well when I adjusted the chain and it loosened up enough that it snapped, but luckily broke nothing (but the link). Keep it tensioned right!

 

If you are thinking about a new Sport quad they all have concentric drive. While you still have to tighten the chain once in a while I've never had either of my quads throw one.

Helpme,-have you every tried "Muddoff" or a similar product that you spray on before you get the atv muddy? I have tried the "MUDDOFF" and it works good for light mudd,haven't had a chance to get in a lot of mud. But if it rains any more around here when i go to the hunting club it will be very muddy.

Actually prior to the concentric drive models there was the possibility of throwing a chain and having it rip right through your tranny, due to its design (it literaly was placed halfway over the CS). On concentric drive models the tranny case was redesigned to eliminate this. As far as it getting far up enough to cause engine damage...I sincerely doubt that could happen. As Adam said, get a tensioner for models w/o CD.

If you wax the plastic with standard Car paste wax, the mud will come off easier.

I try to do it a couple of times a year.

As for the chain tensioner, you don't need it on a Concentric Drive, but if your machine is older, Hot seat sells one as well as individual parts for it. (It is ueseful if you break only the spring....)

to clean mud off of your quad first hose it down then spray it all over with bleach white white wall cleaner ,let it soak for a for a while and just hose off. the brown stain comes right off.
