ECU interfering with Tach

My new ECU/EFI taps into the coil to monitor RPM for the EFI. Now my Tach doesn't work. Is there a device I can install to prevent the ECU from interfering with my Tach?

Doesn't EFI manufacturer have a tech support dept to talk to?

I'm also looking into a hall effect tachometer as a solution. Does anyone recommend a particular make or model?
