03 Kodiak 400 , no spark at the plug,

Default 03 Kodiak 400 , no spark at the plug,

checked all connections at the coil, found negative wire loose, tightened bolt/connector, still no fire wandering about ignition module

A situation like this you need to check everything in the ignition system before swapping the cdi. Like the switches, coils, wires, connectors etc. A cdi will be about $300 when it could be as simple as a broken wire that you can fix in 5 min.

Some new CDIs come with a warning, "Ensure negative wire is properly earthed before use" so I guess if the neg is disconnected, it can blow the CDI. It is worth getting a manual so you can check out all wires to the CDI before spending on a new one, but my guess would be the bad wire has cooked your CDI.
