Just installed new battery in '06 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO EFI. Fired right up. but now front winch won't work. Worked fine before replacing old battery. Any ideas why?

 

You left one of the winch leads off the battery ?

 

either you left a cable unhooked from the battery or maybe if they wired the hot wire that powers the solenoid with a fuse it might have been blown. check to se if you have power to the solenoid from the battery and hot wire(little red wire) that powers the switch for the winch.

 

Well, i must say i replaced solenoid and battery on my 800, and the same thing happened. I left the winch wire off, noticed after a few choice words. Hopefully this is what you did as well.

 

It would be nice if he posted again within 8 weeks to say if he got it working or not.

 

Too embarrassed to to post back he left a wire off - lol

It happens to anyone who ever worked on anything , even me !

 

One winter I pulled started mine for months because I had a loose battery cable that I thought I already checked.
