Very tight gas cap

Very tight gas cap
I've got a 18 y/o 2wd Honda four wheeler. It rides and runs just like new.
The one problem I have is the gas cap. It's so tight I can't remove it, I have to have a very strong friend do it for me. I've tried a light film of oil on the gasket but that didn't work.
Any ideas?
