06 sportsman 500 H.O. Fuel pump issue

06 sportsman 500 H.O. Fuel pump issue
Hey guys I have some issues with my fuel pump on my 06 sportsman 500 H.O. that has got me stumped. If I remove the pump from the tank it all seems to work as it should but when I go to install it back in the tank and the pump compresses on the slides it makes my fuel gauge and needle flash. And help would be great thanks
