My bike is shutting down a lot in damp weather. If you cycle the key to off it will restart .If the engine is still rotating you can cycle the key off to run and it will fire back up without stopping. If you don't cycle the key to off and try to restart it won't start. Does anyone know what would cause this?

 

stator might be getting bad with maybe moisture getting in the somewhere. just a guess.
