I had the 500 up off the ground yesterday. I noticed when 2wd is selected all four wheels are still spinning. Doesn't make sense to me but I know Honda's 4wd is weird. Is this normal or should I start trouble shooting the 4wd?

 

Jack just the front wheels off the ground, start engine, engage 2WD, tun one front wheel by hand, the other should revolve in the same direction, if it goes in the opposite direction it is stuck in 4WD, but I bet it isn't.

 

Well jacked it up today. It's stuck in 4wd. The 4wd light doesn't flash or anything just comes on when you put it in 4wd and off when you switch it out

 

I had a front diff in pieces about a month ago and there was no information in the workshop manual about the strange 4WD mechanism. We managed to find a used diff so didn't need to investigate further.
