I just bought a 2006 TRX500FM. Ive only put 2 hrs on it and was wondering if anyone has tips or suggestions.

My suggestion would be if it is a 4x4 model, bring it over to my house just outside Chanute, KS. and leave it. If it is a 2x4 model, bring and leave it anyway.
Enjoy your new ride.

Well, I sure like mine. I added a Warn 2.5, but would do the 3.0 if I were to do it again (Better sealed), I put a handlebar mount/cig lighter power plug on it for my GPS, and am about to swap out the tires. I don't like the stock Honda grips, and put on some el-cheap-o's that didn't last long.
I do wish it had a bit more clearance, but I really like the way it steers and runs. If you plan to keep it for a long time the first thing I would buy is the factory service manual.

do they make a switch to disengage from 4-wd to 2-wd? i own a rancher been looking at the 500 foremans.what is there low gear braking like?

Foremans over the last few years have a handlebar mounted switch for 4wd/2wd. Several aftermarket companies (like Warn) make kits to allow the older 4x4-all-the-time quads to be shifted in and out.
The 500 Foreman's 1st gear is a real granny, and it will idle down most anything at about 2 mph w/o using the brakes.

Depends where you buy it. I got my 05 Foreman 500 ES for $5383 at Southern Honda in Chattanooga, TN. Just got it yesterday and I love it. It rides better than the Rancher, of course it's a lot bigger than the Rancher. I thought I made a mistake selling my old Rancher until I got this Foreman.

Grumpy2 I was looking to buy a foreman 4X4 ES for my wife and noticed on atvtrader that southernhonda in chatt. had '05's for $5383 shown about the middle of the page. It also has a free 48 month warranty. Did you get the warranty and if so what type of warranty is it?

Also there is another place in CONYERS, GA called mountain adventures that has close to the same deal. I wonder if they charge sales tax though?
