Sportsman 700 edi rough idle
#1
Hello, I recently bought a 2006 Polaris sportsman 700 efi. First problem I fixed with it was a hard to shift condition and a creep at idle. Turns out the front lower motor mount was bad causing belt mis alignment. Now I’m tackling a rough idle. When I bought the quad the intake boot from the air box to the throttle body a a few large cracks in it (probably from the broken motor mount flex) so I replaced that and sprayed the sensor with electronics cleaner. I also figured the gas in it could be bad so I filled it up with fresh 93 with a dose of sea foam. I’m now on my 2nd tank and it still idles rough. Its indicated idle rpm is about 1150, but will dip down to ~1000 for a second here and there. If I let it idle for a few minutes, it may or may not stall (50/50). It basically sounds like it just doesn’t fire one or both cylinders every 10th or so ignition cycle. At idle it also sounds similar to a cammed v8 with a thump-pause-thump sort of pattern.
When riding it there are no issues, throttle input is crisp, it doesn't break up and it runs smooth. The roughness is idle only. After replacing the intake boot and cleaning the sensor I also unhooked the battery for a few minutes to reset the system. My next move is to replace the spark plugs and make sure the corresponding wiring is sound. Any other input on this? I come from the dirtbike world and have tons of experience with bikes and carbs, but this is my first time dealing with efi.

Did you find & fix the problem? I have the same thing with my 2010 Sportsman 800.

Yes I did get it fixed. After trying everything I could I brought it to the closest dealer. They were very friendly and helpful, adjusted the tps and it was ready for pick up the next day. Charged me 1 hour of labor, and the quad idled fine after that.
I sold the atv a couple months after posting this and currently have a prairie 650, but I know the person I sold it to and it is still running great.
