Hello. I am working on a 1998 Honda Recon 250 that pull starts easy. The starter was spinning when trying to electric start. I tested the starter and it was good. I pulled the rear stator cover (alternator cover) to check the one way bearing (starter clutch) and it only turns one way. The gearing doesn't looked to be stripped. What else could be my issue? Thanks for any help I get. I have the service manual.

 

After working on it today, I think that my starter is turning the wrong way. Off the quad with the starter hooked to a battery correctly it turns CW when looking at the shaft or CCW when looking from behind the starter.
