Default Help!

I just was given a 150cc quad which I think is a Chinese model either a Tao or Coolster I think..... i don’t know the year or model or anything so I was hoping to get some help. Oh it also won’t start. Today when I got it I kick started it cause battery for electric start was dead it started. I pull it out and drove it. It did not have much power and did t seem to go more then a few mph. Then I pulled in back into garage and it died. I couldn’t get it started again. Because it has been sitting I think the carb needs replaced or clean, but why no power or mph? Carb?

i would start by cleaning or replacing the carb... thats a older model so its been sitting for some time.. Also looks like the the piping for the air intake to the belt housing is missing so the belt could be toast if its been taking in waster and mud before it was parked

Now you are beginning to see why these oddball machines sit around for so long.....there is little to no information about them. Part locating is even worse...good luck getting her going.

I don’t even know if I am doing the right things to start it either because I don’t know the model and no directions from previous owner and advice of help outside of just to clean the carb would be helpful

Just cleaning the carb rarely works, you should try to locate a quality rebuild kit. These should include new gaskets, needle and seat, plus instructions for setting up the carb and making proper adjustments.
A carb must be set up properly to allow the engine to run properly.

This is where a rebuild kit comes into play, they have insteuctions included....the carb needs to be completely dissassembled and cleaned, all passages blown out, new gaskets on reassembly and foat levels set to specs after installing new needle and seat.
