We need a bit more than "having some trouble with one" to be able to help you.

Typical for these cheap inports, very hard to find info and parts. Try posting in the chinese section and keep fingers crossed. In many cases they become throwaway when a problem arisses. Save your money and get a good quality machine where parts and service are availiable. Wish I had better news for you folks.

Ignition parts for Chinese bikes are cheap, first you need to know what engine you have, mostly three different sorts on sub 125cc machines Honda Cub clone, GY6 4 stroke scooter type engine, and a 2 stroke scooter engine. Bigger bikes often use Honda motorcycle engine copies, but alter them quite a lot.

Check the "help diagnose stator" sticky on the engine problems page, for info on how to diagnose ignition faults.

by any chance did you wash it or go splashing through some puddles? I found these things put the CDI in the direct line of fire with water. I washed one of ours one day not realizing where the CDI was and hit it with water. Fryed it as soon as i gave it power to start.. Im assuming since its you and your husband you are some ware up in the 500 class of atv of some sort of manufacturer.. Not sure about the bigger units but the smaller units for me have been reliable little units.. You see more issues with these because they sell more than the other manufacturers in the smaller models so of course more issues are going to be reported.. If you keep up on maint and check everything over on a regular basis they are good..

If you supply people with more info may be able to help more.. make, model, pictures all help
