Default 2006 LT-Z50 starting issues

I have a 2006 Suzuki ltz50 that I bought for $500. When I brought it home I took it apart to clean everything up and see what the previous owner Mickey moused. Upon inspection I noticed multiple issues, had a moped carb, wrong starter, butchered the stock wire harness, soldered the cdi box straight to the harness and multiple broken bolts(including a broken stud in the head. So after about a month or so of waiting for parts I have ordered and installed: Oem carb, wire harness, ignition, head gasket set, oil change and a dynatek cdi box. I’ve been messing with it for the past week or so trying to get running and failed. I’ve searched hi and low on multiple forms to find the answer and I got nothing, it just won’t start. It has spark, it’s getting fuel to the cylinder, the teacher switch is connect and good, parking brake switch is good, ignition is working and the kill switch is good. I pull the spark plug out and Franck and there’s spark, I put fuel in the cylinder and nothing and also tried started fluid, I also noticed that when I crank it fuel sprays out the carb( like a mist type of spray). When I searched for any answers or solution a lot of 2stroke threads pop up. I just don’t know what else to do, debating if I should strip it for parts or what. Just getting frustrated. Any help is greatly appreciated. The amp you in advanced!!

Check valve clearances and compression. If you have decent compression and it still won't start, check the valve timing, also that piston is at TDC when the flywheel mark says it is. With a previous owner who bodges so badly, anything can have been done to the engine.

Ok sounds good. I’ll give that a try sometime this week and let you guys know how that goes.
