Default Tao 110 won’t shut off

Okay - this one has me puzzled. In order to star my kids Tao (though the engine says GIo on it) 110cc I have to have the key turned on, and the engine switch in Run. However once it’s running, the only way to turn it off is to stall it out with the choke. The run/stop switch does nothing and neither does turning off the key.

Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Either the kill wire from CDI to switches has been disconnected/broken or the CDI has gone bad and kill isn't working. Check the kill wire (usually black/white) at the CDI, should be earthed when ignition is off and open circuit when ignition is on. If it is OK, the CDI is faulty, a dodge can be done by jumping kill wire and a wire from stator to CDI, so it earths the stator wire when you turn the ignition off.

Turns out you were right. The pin in the CDI plug was broken so the black wire got pushed / jiggled out. Didn’t find it til I replaced the harness though. Thanks!
