tao tao 110cc piece of crap
#1
Hi all,
I have 2 tao 110cc atvs. TAO suck! Any other brand is the way to go. But they are what I have so I have to make do. My problem is I have one that was working I put the fairing back on, it worked then stopped. I put in a new key switch and it worked but now it tries to start but won't turn over. Everything except for the motor and starter motor are new. I replaced all and had it working. I just took apart the carb and cleaned it again. Battery is charged, fresh high octane gas, spark combustion all good. Still the same issue. It tries to start but the motor doesn't turn over. Also my other 110cc does the exact same thing. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Booker

So I am understanding the motor wont turn over but starter is turning. If that's the case behind the stator is a one way clutch of sorts with 3 rollers that lock to spin the moter when starter is engaged. The springs in there that hold the roller are weak an can cause the rollers to not hold.

Just pull the cover off the stator side an try to start it. Watch the magneto if the starter an gear the chain hooks to an spins an the magneto doesn't then its probably that clutch behind the magneto. Sorry I said stator in other post but its behind the magneto
