Default Eton lightning 90cc not shutting off

I have a 2006 eton 90cc lightning atv... just stopped working and had no spark at all. After a bunch of cleaning and changing of things which didn't work, I bought one of those after market "racing cdi" boxes, but now none of the kill switches work to shut it off. As a side note - we have a second ATV that's the same and even when I put the stock cdi from that one onto the other it won't start.... but runs like a charm with the new cdi - with the inconvenience of not shutting off without disconnecting something. Any ideas?

Etons are "different" they mostly used a CDI that works earth to run on the kill wire, 90% of other makes use earth to kill on the kill wire. The fact that it does run with a "normal" CDI would indicate that you have a fault on the kill wire anyway, so fixing that may cause your Eton CDI to start working.

On my eton 40 rascal it would not shut off and it was because of a bad main ground. On that model, the ground goes to the coil when switched off, not sure if yours is the same. That had less electric to it than yours though. Since you’ve got it running on the new cdi, what I would do is figure out which cdi wire will shut it down when removed (possibly the ground) and then add a switch to that line so you can “disconnect” it with a switch.
