2019 ltz50 power/speed upgrades
#1
I just recently joined this forum. It gas been a wealth of knowledge, so far. I just purchased my son (4) a used 2019 ltz 50 4 stroke for Christmas this year. We had a 1986 (I think, 2 stroke briefly) that would fly, so I thought the 4 stroke would be comparable. As everyone knows, they are very different animals.
I reviewed the ltz 50 quad no power thread (~125 pages). It seems that the consensus is:
•remove spacer
•remove 3 rollers in clutch
•dynatek cdi upgrade or 90cc cdi upgrade
• exhaust mod or upgrade
•kn air filter
•carb jetting
The ~ 125 page thread was from 2008, so I just wanted to ask if this information was still relevant?
Also, when is carb re jetting needed?
1) stock exhaust mod?
2) kn filter mod?
3) exhaust replacement? (CT , Fmf, etc...)
Again, thanks for all that contributed to anything ltz 50 related.

Personally, I would sell the LTZ50 and buy an LTA50, they are cheaper, have a similar (maybe the same) springer frame and, as you know, the 2 stroke flies. Even if the engine is worn, parts are easy to get, and an engine rebuild is cheaper than what you propose to do with the LTZ.

After reviewing long thread from 2008, I'm still a little confused.
If I drill holes in the exhaust baffle, will carb have to be re jetted?
If I upgrade filter to K & N or similar, will carb need to be re jetted?
If I upgrade exhaust to CT or similar, will carb have to be re jetted?
Thanks again for all the help!

Another question, does anyone have pictures of the stock airbox and stock exhaust modification? The pictures on THE original post can not be viewed anymore, as the thread is from 2008.
Thanks!
Thanks!
