I'm trying to revive a Linhai 400, that has had the battery connected with reverse polarity. So far we've identified shorts in some sort of two-wire (one of which is ground) device in front of the bulb in the headlights and in an unidentified module, please se attached picture. Some of the wires goes to the 4-wd transfer case, so from the electrical diagram (lower left corner, se picture below)I think this must be what is marked as "STN instrument unit"? I need help identifying the electric module in the picture (so I can purchase a new one), and I'm also curious of the device in front of the bulbs.

(The diagram is for a 300, but it seems to be matching quite well, and I dont think any difference matters for this task anyway.)
Identify the colour of each wire going to the unit, check on the wiring diagram which unit has the same number of wires in the same colours, and you will have identified it.
Fitting a battery the wrong way round usually results in a blown main fuse, nothing else. It can blow voltage reg and other "black boxes" such as "igniter" have electronics in them, but surely best course is to try it first. If it is still blowing main fuse right away, disconnect all those boxes and reconnect one at a time until one of them does blow the fuse, you have then found the faulty component.
Today I got it to start and run! (I forgot to reconnect the alternator yesterday, so the CDI had no input.)
The shorted module is a "shift controller", managing the electric actuation of the 4wd, it looks like.
It did blow the main fuse, which was replaced. But it also keeps blowing the 15A fuse where this module was connected, dead short to ground. Possibly also a short in that device in front of the headlight bulb, I will try to reconnect it to rule out a measurement error.
