xTremeATV.com X-100 had Spark and now No Spark
#1
Hi All,
New to the group and first time post. I pulled an x-100 (xtremeatv.com) out of about a 10 years storage the other day. It had spark and fired when I put a little fuel in the cylinder. Continued to have spark during troubleshooting, etc. but has lost fire now. I had connected a battery to the terminals of the atv battery and used it to turn the engine with the starter button. It spun fine but no spark.
Did connecting the battery do something? I'm guess voltage regulator or resistor of some sort?
I'm thinking I could replace the carburetor and correct this spark issue and it should run.
Thanks all,
Bobby

Change the plug, then go through the "help diagnose stator" sticky at the top of this section. The most likely thing is a corroded connector after so long in storage, but the checks should enable you to narrow your search to one particular wire or coil. Don't take the readings listed there as gospel, different makes will have different readings, but an open circuit or no resistance where there should be some, indicates a fault. Worth striping the existing carb and seeing if it will clean out before getting a new one.
