My friend has a problem///a Honda Recon or the Honda 250ex
#1
Hey, im here to ask all you a question for my friend. He wants a 250ex but I tell him he should go with the recon because of what he does, such as mudding, going through deep water, trial riding,he would have a tow hitch (well at least he can install a hitch on a recon, and has racks so he can haul things around. But he still wants me to ask all of you people to give him your expertease on this problem. So if you would, please help him. THANX

I just bought the 250ex a couple of weeks ago for my daughter and she loves the thing it has lots of power and very light it also has disc brakes on the front and more shock travel than the recon. It wheelies real easy on take off even with me on it and I weigh two hundred pounds.

We have both. The two bikes do handle different. The biggest differences are related to the very different tires you run on a utility vs. a sport bike. If you REALLY need racks (50 lbs. of racks!!) or the bigger fenders (for mudding), the Recon would be the choice. The 250 can do everything the Recon does, plus it can do the sporty things the Recon isn't so good at. I think a Recon hitch will go on the 250????

I had a chance one day to line up a Recon and a 250EX. They are pretty much the same exact same quad. The 250EX does seem to handle better, but that is most likely due to tires and a little less weight. The 250EX also has front disc brakes, which I like better. The owner of the Recon said his front drums are pretty much worthless. As for the hitch idea, I noticed that the 250EX seems to be missing some of the hitch area that the Recon has. Nothing that a few welds could not fix... I would recommend the 250EX over the Recon. The only benefit to the Recon over the 250EX is the fact it has racks and better mud protection.

Go with the Honda 250ex it is faster and handles better. It can go through just as much mud as a Recon. A recon only goes 38.5 mph. 250ex rides wheelies good to. I have a 250ex and I like it.
