Default Please help commando 100cc atv

Hey guys so I have a Chinese 100cc kids quad I’m trying to identify so I can get the right parts for it I need a new wiring harness carb etc. I think I’ve got the carb figured out though. Anyway it’s an extreme commando 100cc 2 stroke with the electric choke and automatic oilier system. I know it has a QJ motor on it based of the number but I can’t find any QJ parts Any info on where to get parts and what manufacturer and model to look up would be great thanks I’ll post pics

Looks tidy, I think the engine will be the two stroke Minarelli clone, used in many bikes a few years back including the Polaris two stroke 90 and more recently Apache 100s. Why try to fit a new loom? Universals rarely fit that well and, as I regularly state here, if you know enough about electrics to fit a new loom, you know enough to fix the one you have, unless it has been on fire, or butchered by an idiot. If you can find the VIN tag it may have the actual Chinese maker's name, or the VIN number may contain the code for the maker.

Hey thanks for the reply it’s not as tidy now my 7yr has been running it pretty hard lately lol
I was thinking it was that engine but I’m new to quads so I’m trying to learn as I go. Here’s my thinking with the loom and a little about the issues I’m having. 1 the wiring on these are a mess. None of my wiring seems to be color coded and it seems pretty slapped together so I’m pretty sure someone has messed with it before. 2 every time it rains or the quad gets wet it starts running like hammered sh*t if it will even fire. 3 if I redo the loom I can color code everything plus I’ll know what parts are on it for sure next time. I.e stator, cdi, resistor etc. I’ve ordered a few parts that I thought were right and when they come in they don’t work or I have to play with the wiring etc to make them work.
4 this is just theory and you may be able to help me with it but is it possible/beneficial to try and convert from an a/c system to a simplified d/c setup? I’m just trying to lose as much unnecessary stuff as possible. I want to try and eliminate the safety tethers because they never get used etc. what are your thoughts?

on another topic for the carb from what I’ve read all the Chinese carbs you buy are junk so do you know of a good replacement? It’s a 19mmx32mm no flanges with electric choke and auto oiler system on it. Should I get rid of the auto choke and oiler and run premix fuel and manual choke?
sorry I know it’s a lot of questions but like I said I’m new to these little buggers and I’m trying to do this right the first time around

Err, the bike is either Chinese or Taiwanese so the carb already is "Chinese junk" they are actually quite good if you realise you may have to tune them after fitting. However a good clean out of your existing carb works fine as a rule. The separate oil system on that engine never seems to give trouble. I would leave it alone, the throttle controlled metering system has a cable which could break, but routine checks should prevent problems with that and I suspect it would give max lubrication if the cable did fail anyway. The chokes can be troublesome but were cheap to replace, and conversion to manual kits were available if you prefer that. There was a universal wiring kit for the Minarelli engined machines. Though as the big time use of them was 20 years ago, I'm not sure how much generic stuff is still available. Apache persevered with imports until circa 2018 and the engine is still being used in Asia, but I guess US and European emission rules have killed the two stroke in those markets. Some Minarellis did use DC CDIs. I would try to get either an Apache or Polaris wiring diagram and copy that if you really do want to go for making up a new loom. Some parts are a bit counter intuitive, for example the choke is fed AC direct from the alternator, so you really need to know why things are wired as they are.

Ok I appreciate the info I’ll probably just keep the carb I have and try a good clean and tune on it. I’ll leave the oil system and auto choke if that’s the best course of action. As far as the loom goes you’re probably right I’ll just fix what I have and replace splices with better stuff. I appreciate the help I’ll post some more pics if I have any other questions thanks for taking the time to help out
