The one that I'm looking at buying doesn't have it and I was wondering if this is an option, if so I'll be getting one that has it. Is it possible to have an EBS setup installed after the fact? My Magnum 500 has it and I think it's the best thing since elastic in underwear! Thanks alot.

Thanks for the quick response. That makes sense to me. The reason I kinda thought that it might be available was because I just got through reading the ATV Connection review on the '99 Scrambler 500 and it was stated that although their test model didn't have it, it was available as an option on the '99.

 

I don't know about the scambler,but what not having low got to do with it?Am just asking.Later COB

 

Actually, come to think of it, my EBS works in high range on my Magnum although not as well.

 

Polaris says you cannot but EBS on a scrambler 500 because it is a high output engine and it will eat belts...

 

I am sure EBS is not a good idea on your Scrambler. If you use your Scrambler to its full potential you will damage your belts especially if you jump the beast at speed.
I have installed a split brake kit and thats a far better option for your machine.Ebs is great on machines other than the Scramblers.Try flicking your throttle for a second when going down hill. You will find the clutch will actually give you some engine braking. Try it it does work. Its only when the engine is at idle that you free wheel.

Thanks for the advice. That split brake idea seems pretty good.

 

Although not as strong as an EBS kit, you can get good engine braking just by making sure the belt doesn't disengage by blipping the throttle.

Also, you can get more backshift by changing out different clutch components. Just call any reputable Polaris hop-up shop.

 

Most hop up shops stay away from the EBS system. It uses a different front and rear clutch design than the nonebs systems. However some components can be changed and adjusted.

Just like stated above just blip the throttle as many times as needed to keep the clutch engaged.

The split brake kit is a good alternative but it still kills the brake life like usual.

I was installing an HPD tack on my scrambler this weekend and i had an idea. If there was something that you can bolt on to the swingarm like the nonconcentric drive chain tensioners that has a sproket instead of a pulley that provides resistance that varies with RPM when the throttle is released.
