I have a 01 rancher and am about ready to buy a set of titans.
I know this has been talked about to death but how much power loss will I have with the 26" tires. Since if I spend $300 or so on a power kit my wife has to spend $300 on something and on and on,hehehe.
I am 6' and weigh 220 and usually take off in 3rd gear for normal riding. I would just hate to get the 25" tires and find out later the power loss wouldn't be too tough to get the 26". I could swing the filter and jet kit if it would help but the exhaust would be a bit much right now. I will probably put these on steel wheels.

Thanks,

Brad

I have 25" Mudrunners on my Rancher ES 4x4 with no engine mods and I don't think I'd want to run anything bigger.

I've just ordered some 26X10 Mud-Bugs for my Rancher ES. I will be mounting them on Rubi alloys. I'm looking forward to finding out how they go. In discussions with a couple guys I know and some info from TEXMudder, I think 26's will be OK. If not, I'll have to consider the K&N power kit! It's for my girlfriend anyway, so I don't have to be too fussy!

In my case I changed from a 25" stock Goodyear ATT901 to the 25" MudRunner and felt the need for more power to turn the wheels because of increased traction.

If you are going from a stock ATT 24" tire to a 26 Titan, I would imagine you should feel quite a difference in the need for power to overcome the increased tire size and traction increase.

I do agree with UtahRancherRider .. the 25's make an excellent choice.

I have the set up your talking about. I can tell you that you will lose a noticable amount of power and top end speed. I then put the Highlifter power kit on so I could get some of it back. I think I got back more then I had before. I can (without trying) lift the front end through 3 gears.

The 589 do not come in 11 inch. only in 10 and 12 inch wheel size. Use the Bear Claws in 25 inch you will not notice much of a change. The price for them are only $260.00 for all four, and you do not have to get a set of wheels. Take that extra money and buy somthing else for it.Text

I just added 25" Titan 589 MT's to my Rancher ES 4x4. I did notice some power loss. I expect you would have quite noticeable power loss with 26" tires. A power kit should get back most of the power loss.
Try starting in second gear; it's easier than third gear.

I recently went with 25"x9.50x12 tires on all four. I also went with polished alum wheels made by ITP. I didn't really notice a severe lose of power anywhere except when in 4th or 5th gear on hills etc. As for top speed the MPH says i am going 46mph compared to 50 when stock. However some of that difference in reading of the LCD is the larger tires are covering a larger area than before. I would say it takes longer to get to top end, but in all actualality it should go faster.

Go with the 25"s if you are getting a real agressive tire tread like outlaws or vamps. However if I remember the set of 589's I saw I don't recall a lot of sidewall tread. You should be able to run 589's at the 26" variety with no problem. One suggestion, no matter what you get simply buy the K&N power kit that includes the jets, needle and air filter. That alone will pull you back to normal power or a bit higher. Any larger tire than 26" on the Rancher I would bet most agree needs the exhaust done to get power back up. Hope this helps.
