if you got the biggest front sprocket and the smallest rear sprocket for the banshee, how fast would it go? what i am asking is, what is the fastest a banshee can go on gearing alone?
thank you for any info possible

Well... if you gear it really high you might be able to hit 250mph or so.. But it might take you a couple miles to get it rollin. he,he..

Thats an overly vague question... A decently modified banshee has 100+ MPH potential on asphalt.

You'd have to gear it much higher, and bump the horses up some. But it could be done.

Banshees can be made street legal in some Europian countries, they use street tires and much higher gearing, like a 18t front and drop the back to about 35t.

Even if you put the tallest gearing on, HP & torque are the limiting factors of speed. I would think the fastest you could go would be around 80-90mph.

Dan Hull of A&S Racing (www.bansheeracing.com) runs his 350 at at about 105 (if my memory serves me right) in the quarter on ashpalt. The last I heard he was running like 96 mph in 660, and he was only picking up to the low 100's in the quarter. He also said the motor was screaming for more gear.... His bike has been dynoed at about 93 hp. I think the biggest sprocket you can fit on the front is a 16, any bigger and and the chain hits the case. Also remeber that even though a stock banshee probably runs in the 70's top speed, it is not a parallel relationship between the amount of HP to top speed. It may only take an extra 10 hp to raise top speed from 70 to 80, but to go from 80 to 90 it takes alot more.

Aerdynamic drag is going to come into play over 100 MPH...

THEORETICALLY... and I stress that!!! You could have a custom made rear sprocket (I doubt they are standard products anyway) that is just larger than the axle (or whatever else is in the area and in the way) that would possibly get you down to like 20 or teeth... maybe smaller. I don't know anything about Banshee's but in theory the only thing holding you back from this is having something in the way up front and in the rear to prevent you from going larger/smaller. 409LongRod said that 16 was the largest you could use in front, but if you figure out what the smallest diameter you can use in the back is, figure out the circumference w/ some easy math, divide that by the width of a single tooth and that will tell you how many you can fit back there. You may have to push the thing to get it going and will definitely wear out clutches like it is nobodies business, but that will give you some hellacious top speed. Now would I trust the aerodynamics of a banshee at these kinds of speeds? Hell no... but the good news is that you will be accelerating at such a slow pace you can get scared (or bored w/ the 3 mile ride) and back out, long before it gets TOO dangerous.
Not that I know anything about this crap, but if I took just a dumb guess of the top of my head... I would say you could THEORETICALLY hit about 160-170.

If you drop it out of a plane at 12k feet, it will hit terminal velocity of about 150mph within 15 to 20 seconds...

Now Brad, if you were to shorten the gears up again maybe we could get that 0-150mph time down to around the 10 second range? Am I right, or would we have to add some engine mods?
