Any of you guys out there that have a 14 tooth front sprocket on there 300ex tell me how it works, top end speed, mid range, low end and all of that kind of stuff. And how much clearance you had in between the motor and the teeth when you put the sprocket on.

I can't remember the clearance but on my buddies 300ex we had to remove the case saver. You might be able to grind it down to fit however. If you have a pipe and air filter, a one tooth bigger front sprocket makes a pretty good difference. I know that it eliminate the wanting for that "extra gear" when in 5th.

Did you have to add a link to the chain or just loosen it all the way CP?

On my friends 300 we only had to adjust the chain. If your machine is brand new the chain might be to tight, but I would try adjusting it before buying a new one.

MXZ-

I just put a 14T on my 2001 300EX. It works great. I too had to remove the case saver. As far as a difference, I saw one. First gear fells like it doesn't wind out so fast. A little top end and mid-range increase was noticable. In my opinion, it was a great mod for $20.00. When I put the 14T on, all I did was loosen the chain to compensate for the new sprocket. I've been running it on the road and a few mx tracks and have had no problems. When putting the new sprocket on, be careful of you torque you apply. When I did mine (this was the first time ever) I overtightened just a bit and snapped one of the bolts. I, as well as my bro and his 2001 CR250R, learned the hard way. Get a torque wrench. Don't go too tight. There a b!tch to get off when broken. Good Luck.
