I have posted too many times in my search for performance upgrades for my Sportsman 500, so heres my last plea. My 2000 model is lacking in the lower-middle power/torque range and I want to improve it. If you have had ANY mods done to your Sportsman, let me know, more importantly if they have been an improvement, or not. Then I'll shut up.

I have a clutch kit on my scrambler. it help a lot on take off but if you take off at really low rpms it will not kick in. but if u runch on it. it will take off alot better. All it does is it makes the belt kick in at higher rpms. And if i was you i would get a supertrapp pipe to if you have the money.

Jack Schultz had a very good response in the above thread which may be some of what you are looking for.

first things first check your plug color ok to see if your mixture is close if ok check ing. timing. i have seen a new 500 with the cam chain off a tooth ran good, but seemed lazy so you should check your cam timing too. but keep in mind that the basics need to be looked at first, air flow? check the foam thing around the air intake and make sure that your air filter is clean and dry. k&n work nicly! good luck!
