Scrambler 400 clutches
#1
I was out riding yesterday at a local mx park, and at the end of the day, acutally loading the quads on the trailer, my 99 Scrambler 400 would not move under load. We got it on the trailer and at home I removed the cover and found the belt(original) was a little worn, but was not the cause of the problem. I put on a new belt I had as a spare, and it ran, but would bog and run erratically. I took off and disassembled the secondary clutch because it did not operate smoothly and discovered the buttons are gone.
I would like any input on clutch, both primary and secondary, setups guys are running. I have a Ritter stage 1 pipe, silencer, primary spring, Delta Force Reed cage, and split brake setup. I ride fairly aggressively and would like better backshifting. I considered a roller clutch about a year ago, but the cost was a little steep, around $200-$300 I believe. If the cost is any cheaper, I believe this is the way to go. Any input would be appreciated.

Would you take an AAEN roller for $150? Two helix's (42/38 and 44/40), HPD violet secondary, extra set of bearrings and a Goodyear Powerstreak belt with little wear.
With the mods listed it sounds like you might have a Plain or Orange primary? Either of which will be fine with the roller.
FYI: I had it on my '99 Sport and am going to an HPD supersport set up. The roller is a great set up, however I think I will get better result in the dunes with the HPD kit. Let me know, I'll even pay for shipping: UPS COD.
