I realize atv pulls dont determine how good a machine is but they are fun and some of the results I found were quite interesting. The pulls took place last night at the Windser fair. There were three classes, up to 499, 500 and unlimited class. You could have a total of 1000 lbs at weigh in in the first two classes. What I saw: 500 class, Rubicon didnt do well at all, Brand new and started surging??? Not sure if its the hydro tranny or what, seemed to loose power, didnt like to spin the tires... Sportsman 500 ho took the title in this event, brand new no mods except for tires (mud bugs) Unlimited class: there was a new quest, Prairie 650, grizz 660 modded to the hilt!!! and some sportsmans. The most impressive LOOKING machine was the new grizz, deffinately set up for pulling. I thought it would be a sure winner. Wrong, pulled well, good power, smoked belt both runs. On his third attempt tranny locked up. Wouldnt go after the pull in any gear Next the same HO 500 that took the 500 class pulled the sled out the door, i was very impressed. Completely stock except tires. then the Prairie, again out the door with little effort, stock except had spidertracs on it for tires. Quest 650 no sac, hardly moved the sled.
pull off, prairie by a landslide. Just kept going.

Most of the Automatic models that entered the unlimited class except the brand new ones smokes their belts. Must be that the new ones belts are tighter??

Anyway what a fun show!!!

Sounds like it was a ton of fun. I wished i would have went up there for it. Just didn't have the time though. Thanks for posting some results. By the way, do you remember any standouts from the 0 to 499 class?

There was a kawasaki Prairie 400 with Titan 589 that did very well as well as a Kodiak that did well.

Just wait until they get some clutch kits and performance kits for the prarie 650. It's a winner in the power/pulling dept. Might be the best 4-wd quad out there for all around utility/fun use.

thats the best part of it, not only is it one of the funnest quads to ride, But with a solid rear axle its more suited for utility work!!! Hook a trailer up to a quad with IRS and good luck if there is any weight on it...

This Thursday I'm headed up to the Springfield fair to watch the truck and ATV pulls. My litle cousin's gonna pull w/ the old TBlazer I sold him in the 2-by class. I hope he does good. They also have a 4-by class, and I'm hoping to see a new 660 Grizzly in action. If not, oh well. It'll still be fun....
