Im going to make some jumps behind my house and my 400EX's Shocks are still set on the factory settings (prolly medium). I was wondering if I need to make them firmer for some medium sized jumps? If I do, then about how many notches should I firm it up?

keep them the same for the first few jumps and see if you want to stiffen or soften the landing.

I set them hard enough so I never bottom out on a medium size jump. This means I might occasionally bottom something huge, but if I set them for something huge, they are to stiff for XC riding.
