I am in the process of buying a new quad that must have independent suspension. Obviously, I have two choices. I rode both machines and like different features of them both. I have owned a sportsman HO and loved the ride and 4wd system, but found it a little big and heavy. Both these new machines have great power and ride great even though I think the polaris still rides better. There is two things holding me back from the polaris and that is 140lbs difference in weight and final price difference of over $1100.00. The yamaha makes me nervous as I've heard they don't like water very badly and form my experience , polaris is fine. I think the yamaha will be more fun for sportier type riding because it is alo lighter but the polaris is probably stonger built. Any suggestions or experience on either machine to help my purchase diecision would be greatly appreciated.

Lets face it, nobody would be in business if they did not all make a great running machine today. But $1100 is alot of money so I would get the cheaper priced bike and use the saved money to buy top of the line tires and rims maybe.

As for power I have a 500 non H.O Sportsman and never once have I ever thought I needed more power or speed. I can cruise down logging roads at 50 mph easily (a bit scary though)and could not imagine some other utility bike flying pass me.

This is a tough call.I've seen the new 700 up close, and rode the new 660 Grizz.Myself personally?I'd opt for the lighter Grizz because I dont care for all that extra weight on the Sportsman. And where does the dealership get off with the 1100.00 dollar differance?Thats alot of extra money for a new unproven ATV.Check around at other dealers to see if they are that much higher priced to.In Michigan, both ATVs cost about the same at 7000k.They both appear to be excellant ATVs and you really need to get out and test ride them both before you decide, and good luck.

Or, you can wait another 20 days and check out the Arctic Cat with I.S. The ride according to the people whom I have spoken to is extra plush and exhibits no bad tendencys. I have a cousin who works for AC and he's partial to them. The local dealer has ridden one and he say's it is beyond compare in ride comfort vs the Grizz and Sp. He's biased also, but aren't we all to some degree or another. I'm supposed to get to ride one on teh 18th of this month, that's when my dealer is supposed to receive 5 of them.
