I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can make an ATC250R street legal? I am in Oregon, and don't know who I am suppose to call to find out info on it so I figured I might ask here. Also, has anyone done this before? I want to do it cause I am going to spend all my money on my new quad and don't want to have to buy a car next year so I figure I will see if I can make my ATC street legal.

This is late, but in Texas I was looking for the same for 4 wheelers. In the DOT manual for state inspections, a motorcycle must have no more than 3 wheels making contact with the ground. There's a start for ya according to Texas rules.

Check your local laws. They may not be needed if the bike is legal at all. IT's a gray area to start with in most states. Also, in a usenet group, I was discussing turn signals on a motor cycle and it was brought up to replace some high dollar broken units with bicycle t/signals. I've never seen them, but it was agreed they exist and shouldn't be too hard to adapt.

I want to tag my R too and I have been reading up on this a little bit, I am in maryland so I know that it will be hard here. I dont have a title, and one didnt come with the bike. I know I will need a title and inspection. but I dont know if I need to apply for a new vin number and call it a custom built motorcycle. I dont know if they would take the vin from the 250R because it would come up as a non highway use only bike. I am only guessing on this, any input would be great. you can go here for a list of things that a motorcycle needs to be legal in a certian state

www.laws4hogs.com/laws

I havent even thought about insurance. The good thing is motorcycles dont have emissions testing in maryland, but they are strict from what I hear about everything else. like noise or driveability. I found street tires, they look wicked, I only wish I could make this happen.
