A friend of mine has an 89 warrior w/ dg exhaust and twist throttle, also has 2 little holes cut in the airbox. Thats all I know about it. After about 30/45 min of riding his exhaust header will glow red hot, REALLY red. it seems to loose power as well, it will still run, but somthing is not right. when she is cold it runs good and fast, it also seems to tack higher when she is still a little cold.

Any thoughts would be helpfull, I am at a loss
Thankx

Hi there,

Does it run better when cold because it's cold, or because the choke is on????

I suspect the latter, and that leads me to believe that after the chokes off, it's TOO LEAN. What does the spark plug look like? Is it white (too lean) or tan (OK)? You need to get this taken care of or you will likely encounter engine problems (serious).

If jetting is not the problem, make sure you do not have a hole between the carb and engine. Sucking air here will effectively lean out your mixture.

I'm sure there could be other possibilities, and I'm far from an expert, but I hope that helps.

ER
