Its a miserable rainy day here in NH in the peak of foliage season, so I'm on the computer instead of riding the new SP 500. I'll be in the garage looking it over in a few minutes. Anyway, the dealer showed me the 26 or so grease fittings. Some are easy to get at and others are a little trickier. I noticed that the Owners manual calls for greasing most every 50 hours, but some 20 hours (or after going thru water, etc). The graphics in the manual are terrible in that they really don't show these fittings. (I don't know why they have to have a manual that covers all the vehicles they make instead of one specific to the model I purchased what with the publishing technology we have today). I am the kind of space shot that would grab the grease gun and grease whatever ones I happen to see and certainly miss some. I need a little check list showing what to grease and how often. It would be good it it consisted of exploded diagrams that I could label. Anybody know of a source. I though I saw something when I was surfin the net waiting for this machine to come but I can't find it.
Thanks.

I could list them all, but instead, I'll just tell you, once you've read your manual, and then greased all of the zerks on your quad, you'll start to memorize where they all are. It becomes less of a pain in the a** after a while. There's zerks on all the a-arms, drive shafts (u-joints), two steering bushings, on the anti-sway bar, on the lower part of the struts(ball joints), and I think thats all. Check your poorly illustrated manual to be shure.

Try downloading the parts manual from Polaris website, it may help you get familiar with your new toy. You can also get the model specific service manual for around $50.

On my 98 SP, I have to take one of the wheels off to get to some of them.

Don't forget the steering stem zerks also. There should be one down at the bottom and one just under the headlight pod. The one under the pod is a b!tch to get to and isn't as critical as the lower one if you go through a lot of water, but it helps to know it's there.
