Buddy just got a '00 Rancher 4x4 ES
#1
My buddy just bought a 2000 Rancher ES 4x4, its red with low Km's on it.
Very nice ATV from Honda, first time I've ever seen a Rancher up close, I like the way they shift when you tap the buton, not like when you have the footshift and have to rock the ATV to get it down a gear when your stopped. And the dash/speedometer is just like the Rubicon, nice & big and very easy to read. Enough drooling over it now...
The only thing wrong with it is that it has a very squeaky front suspension...I was told to tell my buddy to spray the suspension bushings with silicone spray out of an aerosol spray can(correct??), I know not to use WD-40 to get rid of the squeaks, because it will eat or wreck the rubber in the suspension bushings. I was also told to tell him to put some grease in the brake and choke cables so they wont rust or seize.
Please tell me anything else I should be telling my buddy to do to his new ATV....Thanks.

I had the squeaky front end problem also. The best thing to do is take the front shocks off and pack the upper and lower mounts ( the have needle bearings in them ) with good waterproof grease. Clean any mud off the mounts before disassembling them so you dont get dirt in the bearings. Get good grease, Maxima or Bel-Ray. I have had to do this every spring, it doesnt bother me I have learned that a little preventative maintenence is worth it in the long run. The Rancher is a great machine for what it is, I love mine.
