400ex- Painting the Frame
#1
Has anyone painted the frame of their 400ex?- I'm not talking about powder coat- i'm talking about doing it yourself in your own garage...
What type of paint will work on the frame?- Do you use spraypaint? Does anyone have any pictures of their painted frame that YOU did yourself?
Any tips/tricks on painting a frame would be very helpful-
Thanks for your thoughts!

I spray bombed my 'Zilla w/ rustoleum gloss yellow, and it looks pretty dam good (I think, anyway) Only problem is since its an enamel it chips easy, but if you clear coat it it'll probably be more durable, but with just the paint touch-up will be easier...Latah

I have spray painted my 250R frame once or twice.. Just touch up. It looks pretty good considering I used plain ole flat black Rustoleum. Spray paint is okay... but fasternu has the right idea.. Put a clear coat on top, so it wont come off as easy.

Find a can of VHT brake drum/rotor/caliper paint. It comes in yellow red orange blue aluminum and black. It is self priming and is the closest thing to powercoating in a can I have come across. JC Whitney sells it for 11.95 for two cans. It goes on really thick and it's the strongest finish you could get in a can it's also high-temp. i hope this help.

If you are going to take the whole bike apart why dont ou just powder coat it. do it right the first time so u dnt have to do it again. my friend and i both hav powdercoated frames andboth look very nice and are extremely durable. his is yellow and mine is black. you know just my 2 cents...
