After posting a big nasty on Yamaha about my rear bearing failure due to play developing in the rear axle (specifically forward and backward movement in the sprocket and brake rotor), I thought I should post the positive outcome. My DEALER decided to come through for me and cover the cost of the new bearings and labor or to cover 1/2 the bill for installing a 2002 axle, bearings, and axle nuts. I decided to get the updated axle - not for the added 5% increase in strength but for the updated axle nut design. Leave it to Yamaha to make a design change and then profess nothing is wrong with the old design. I am still trying to decide whether to cancel my 3 yr extended policy. The issue is that I doubt Yamaha would pay for any repairs anyhow. I am thinking that I take the money and put it towards the Fortin gears. I would rather buy an extended warranty from my dealer than from Yamaha. Ultimately, it seems to be the dealers who worry more about the customer than Yamaha.

Hopefully, these parts are not on backorder or I might change my mind the other way.

I have never purchased extended warranty on any Quad or Dirtbike. I would take the money. The odds are stacked against you.
