250 Trail Blazer backfires and loss of power
#1
Ocasionally my Trail Blazer back fires and I momentaily lose power? I have changed the spark plug seveal times. However, my battery is weak and no longer holds a charge. I understand that poor or weak battery can cause weird things to happen on Polaris's. Could this be the problem?

This may be a stupid question, but have you checked the air filter? My Scrambler 400 does the same thing when the filter get's dusty. It may not look that bad, but if you take it out and blow it out with compressed air, you will find that there is alot in there. Hope I helped.

If its doing it when you let off the throttle it is because the throttle cable is too slack and the throttle kill switch is disengaging. It will momentarily kill the ignition until the throttle closes and then it will start to fire again. This will cause the backfire.By the way , backfiring on a 2 stroke isn't a good thing. It can easily blow out a crank seal.

If you dont get your battry replaced you will be replacing EVERY light bulb on the thing.I had to do this because of a bad battry and the bulbs cost more than the bat did.
