I went to switch into AWD today, and it would not go in. If I put the machine in reverse and push the over ride switch, it works. Looking at the wireing diagram, it looks like there is a switch at the shifter. The switch seems to be an internal switch. Can this switch be adjusted? Is there a trick to adjusting this switch? Any info would help. Thanks, Jack.

Did you get the AWD working? If so, what was the problem?

I would check your switch, which means taking it apart & cleaning & reshaping the brass/copper contacts back to their original shape or buying a new switch. Apperently on early models, the switch was a problem, (plastic ones). I just cleaned mine but beware there are small parts in the switch.

Jack, some machines had a switch in the shifter box, some have them on the tranny itself. I don't know the year they switched. If yours is in the shifter box, you can (if you are very careful) clean the contacts. I believe the ones on the tranny are sealed units that you replace rather than clean.
