The recon is probably better. It has more power, is lighter, and is more reliable. The beartracker MIGHT be better for pure utility use, but the recon is just a great quad. It would be better for more "spirited" driving. The new recons also have an oil cooler which will keep things running cooler and let you engine have a longer life.

The Recon is definetly better. I have a 02 recon and my friend has a 02 beartracker and my recon killed him jumping, climbing and in a drag race. The only thing i would say that is better about the bear tracker is that it may have larger cargo rack capacities. Other wise, the recon is better.
